21st Birthday Makeup🥂

Hello again lovelies,

I have been taking a mini break for a week or so as on the 6th March it was my 21st birthday. I wanted to make it a special celebration so I decided to do some dramatic makeup, especially on the eye, to share with you all.

🌸Eyeshadow🌸

Here is the fun part of doing my makeup everyday. I love creating quite out their looks so I thought I’d go very out of my comfort zone for my 21st. I decided to use two very loved palettes that I have recently purchased. You will find them in my previous post if you click here.

The palettes are both from Makeup Revolution and they were the Re-loaded Iconic Vitality Palette and the Love Conquers All Palette.

The first thing I did was prime my lids with the L’Oreal Eye Primer. Once that had sunk into my lid, I took this nude shade, from the Vitality palette, on a NYX fluffy brush and buffed it into my crease as a transition shade.

I then took another fluffy brush from NYX and took this more orangy nude shade and buffed that in to the outer crease to really ombre out the look so it looks completely blended. I like to do this when I am going to use vibrant colours as they can look super harsh in photos like you haven’t blended it at all.

Next I took the same fluffy brush I used with the orangy shade and I took both of these red shades (they look more vibrant in person) and tried to focus it on the very corner to give my eye some dimension. After applying the vibrant shades I took the very first brush I used with the nude shade and I made sure everything was blended smoothly with no harsh lines.

At this point I knew I wanted to do a half cut crease so I took my beloved Collection concealer and carved out the first half of the lid. I then took this beautiful shimmery white shade and a little bit of the highlighter from the middle, onto a flat Lottie London brush and went to town with packing it on. I packed so much on because I wanted it to be blinding. You know I love sparkles.

Thank you for reading and I will see you again soon.

Benefit Mini Products

wp-image-818214440

I was wandering around Boots in London and a noticed that Benefit had this mini stall type thing with bowls full of products. They were mini versions of some of their products. The offer was that you could pick up 4 mini’s for £15. I was drawn to this because I hate paying so much money on make up that I will end up not liking so it was nice to pick a few high end things to test before committing the full price.

The first one that caught my eye was the Bad Gal Lash Mascara. I have to say it’s the mascara I have reached for the most since buying it. The mascara isn’t a thick consistency and doesn’t clump up your lashes one bit. It makes them look very natural. The only issue I have with it is, if you wear it all day long, the mascara may transfer a bit to your skin. It was only when I got home from work and looked in the mirror that I noticed it. All in all though, this mascara is my new holy grail and will definitely be picking up the full size.

The second product that caught my eye was the Rockateur Blush. I was surprised to see that it was more of a brown toned blush rather than pink toned. I was very skeptical when I first tried it on my cheeks. I was expecting it to show up brown like I had put contour on my cheeks. However it showed up quite subtly, with a slight hint of shimmer and actually looked very flattering. I will be picking up the full size but will be keeping this one for travelling, as I have a feeling I will be using this one a lot.

The third product was a primer. I am a massive fan of the Porefessional Primer, so I was excited to try the “That Gal” Brightening Face Primer. I used it three days in row, the first day was great. It sank in well to my skin and my makeup looked flawless all day. Although for me, products usually work amazingly the first time and then my skin decides whether it likes it or not. The second day my makeup looked amazing for half of the day and then the primer decided it didn’t want to work on my skin. So the third day, I  knew what to expect. My makeup was patchy not long after application. I was so gutted because I adore Benefit products, but this one wasn’t for me.

The final product I purchased was the Triple Performing Facial Emulsion Moisturizer. I had no idea Benefit even did any kind of skin care. I must have been living under a rock the whole time. I was so excited to try this out and again I tested it over three days. Each day my skin felt so soft. The product is so lightweight and doesn’t make your skin feel greasy. It sinks in so quickly. The only thing that I do not like about this product is the bottle the product comes in. It is literally just  a hole in the top that you kind of have to tap on your hand to get the product out, kind of like the glass bottles of sauce at Nando’s. 9 times out of 10 you end up with nothing or too much. I will look past it though because the product is amazing.

Make Up Look – Inspired By Leighton Meester

Leighton’s skin always looks so naturally flawless so I used the Pore fessionals Base Primer by Benefit to help even out my skin tone and fill in my pores to make them less visible.

The next thing you would think to do to get that flawless looking base is to use a high coverage foundation, but for this look I didn’t use a foundation at all. I know, shocking. I actually used a concealer on the problem areas of my skin and the one I used was the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer. This concealer has high coverage for a drugstore product but it worked wonders for that natural flawless skin look. This concealer, when blended, is a perfect match for my skin tone so it looks like I’m not wearing anything on my base at all. The brush i used to blend the concealer in was the Cheek Brush by Real Techniques. I’m sorry if me not using the right brushes for things offends any of you. I just use what brushes work for my skin when applying certain products. This brush happens to be perfect for applying concealer/foundation as its not harsh and doesn’t make your product go streaky on the skin, which is what I find happens when I use a stippling brush.

The next thing I did was set the base with my all time favourite powder, which is the NYX HD Finishing Translucent Powder. I have super oily skin so this powder takes a lot of that away but still makes me look dewy as I am not a fan of having overly matte skin. Leighton’s skin looks flawless and dewy so it is the perfect product to help achieve her look. The brush I used to do this was the Blush Brush by Real Techniques as this is the perfect shape to powder under my eyes and the sides of my nose.

After that, I took a blush by Zoeva called “He Loves Me, Maybe” which is a subtle pink colour and I used the Multi-task Brush by Real Techniques to make my cheeks healthy and rosy just like Leighton in the photo.
SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
For brows I just filled my brows in the way I always do them with the NYX Micro Brow Pencil in the shade Ash Brown as everybody has their own brow shape and the way they like to do them so I thought i’d keep them the same as how I have them every day.

Next I put on some mascara. I used the Benefit Roller Lash as it has a small, thin wand to curl your lashes right up from the root, to A) make them curlier and B) give the illusion of wearing eyeliner without the hassle of messing it up. Just don’t stab yourself in the eye with the wand, I’ve done that on many occasions.

The next thing I did was take a small amount of bronzer around the outside of my face (forehead, chin etc.). Even though I don’t think Leighton is wearing any, I still like to bronze. It’s like my statement product. For this I used a big fluffy brush by Isabella Scott which I purchased at Homesense.

The final thing I did to get that bold red lip, I used a lip palette. This was sent to me by mistake, however it is the best product I have ever used to get a red lip and the edges not looking to harsh and over drawn. The palette I used was the L’Oreal Color Riche Lip Palette in Rouge. I applied it to my lips using a thin and flat brush from a company called Royal and Langnickel. The product is so creamy and doesn’t transfer that much. It doesn’t make the outline of my lips look harsh when i use this product and the pigment is amazing too. Better than any red lipstick I have ever tried.
