4 Eyeshadow Palettes for £12

This post isn’t the one I was going to post next. I just couldn’t contain myself after coming off of the Superdrug website so I jumped straight onto my blog to tell you about an amazing deal I managed to get. As you can probably tell by the title I managed to get my hands on 4 EYESHADOW PALETTES FOR £12! Superdrug have always been amazing for promotions and the one that caught my attention was that if you spend £12 on Makeup Revolution products, you get the Love Conquers All palette for free.

I was determined to get the most out of this promotion as I love their eyeshadow palettes. So I went onto the eyeshadow palette section and selected it to be sorted by price from lowest to highest. I managed to find 3 decent sized palettes all £4 each which made up the total and I got the 4th palette free.

These were the palettes I chose:

Makeup Revolution Love The Revolution Palette

Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Palette Newtrals 2

Makeup Revolution Re-Loaded Palette Iconic Vitality

Absolute bargain! I am so pleased with what I have purchased.

Valentines Makeup and Outfit 🌹

It’s that time of year again. It’s Valentines day. Personally I am not a fan of Valentines day but I think I have managed to create a makeup look/outfit that could be for a night out for all you lovers or for those single independent women. I will give you a run down of all of the products I used to create this makeup look and the outfit I am wearing. If I cannot find the original item I will try to find something similar.

💟 Makeup 💟

Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix

Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind Eye Concealer + Collection Lasting Perfection

Bronzer: NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette

Powder: Rimmel Insta Fix Matte Powder

Blush: Nip + Fab Make Up Blusher Palette

Highlight: KIKO Milano Arctic Holiday Holographic Highlighter (Starry Gold)

Brows: Freedom Dip Brow Pomade + NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Eyeliner: Rimmel Scandaleyes Micro Precision Eye Liner

Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Bang

Lipstick: MAC Cosmetics Pro Lipstick (Red Rock)

I used 2 palettes for this eyeshadow look. I used the Soph x Makeup Revolution Palette and The Balm Nude Dude Palette.

The first thing I did was put some of my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer on my lids as a base/primer as I personally do not use eyeshadow primers. I then took this light nude shade from my Soph x Makeup Revolution palette, on a flat Real Techniques brush to set it in place.
Secondly I used one of my NYX fluffy brush and took a mixture of these 3 shades but mainly focusing on the two on the right hand side. I took these shades through my crease, focusing on making a V shape in the outer side.
I decided I was going to do a cut crease so I went back in with the concealer and carved out my lid. Next moved onto my The Balm palette which I took a slightly thicker but still flat brush from the brand Royal and Langnickel and I packed lots of the shade Fit onto my lid over the concealer. After that I went in with a light dusting of fabulous over the top to make it brighter.

For outfit I wanted something smart but casual but also a bit dressy so that you could wear it out for a romantic meal or just out with your friends.

I went for some very “out their” shoes. I am a bit in love with these sparkly silver shoes from New Look. These are also still on the website in the sale (which is amazing!)

I kept with the valentines theme and went with a red fitted thin jumper with criss cross front and this was from H&M. I couldn’t find the original garment on the website however they do have a couple of other red jumpers with a similar vibe.

For trousers I went with some simple viscose leggings from Dorothy Perkins which are still on the website if you want to purchase them.

Updated Every Day Makeup Look 💋

I though it was about time I did an updated every day makeup look as the last one I did was back in May last year. Most of the products I use have changed now. I will talk about the differences in the products I use now compared to the ones I used before. Anything I don’t compare just means I am using the same product as last time.

Foundation: Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation £9.99

*This was a product I changed as I was using one by Charlotte Tilbury which was £30 and I didn’t want to keep spending that much every time I needed a new foundation. As much as I loved the foundation and would buy it again if I could spare the money every time. I went in search of a drug store, affordable dupe for it and I found this one from Bourjois which is a third of the price*

Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer £3.99

Powder: Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte Powder £4.99

*Don’t get me wrong, you know I adore NYX products, but I come from a small town where our Boots is small and doesn’t stock NYX products. I know I could buy it off the website but I work all day and would miss the parcel and if I need it for the next day then I couldn’t and I would be an oily mess. So I picked this one up as a quick dupe*

Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer £20

*I used to use my holy grail L’Oreal La Terra Bronzer, which I still switch between but I reach more for my Benefit one as it is also the perfect shade to contour my cheek bones with*

Brows: Zoeva Graphic Brows Pencil £7.50 + Freedom Dip Brow Pomade £5

*I am still using the Zoeva Brow pencil, mainly for the spooly at the end but I switched back to my Freedom Dip Brow as I find my brows look more natural with this product*

Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash £18.50

*I used to use the amazing Miss Baby Roll mascara but I felt it was a bit too heavy for every day quick makeup. The Benefit one gives you natural looking lashes, perfect for the day. Also doesn’t transfer at all through out the day*

Highlight: I Heart Makeup (Goddess of Love) £4.99

*BEST HIGHLIGHT I HAVE EVER USED AND FOR THE BEST PRICE! My Jouer one which was incredibly expensive for the size of it, shattered. I hadn’t dropped it or anything. As soon as the weather got colder it shattered like ice which is totally ironic as that was the shade I had*

Blush: Benefit Rockateur Blush £24.50

Lipstick: Disney Cinderella Lipsticks by MAC (Royal Ball) £16 or just a simple lip balm by Nivea £1

New Year, New Palette 🌼

Hello everyone. I am back! I had some other exciting posts to post towards the end of the year, however just before Christmas I fell very unwell (including some complications which is why I have been away for so long) and was ordered on bed rest and lots of sleep so I didn’t get a chance to finish them. However it is the start of a brand new year (I know it’s a bit late into the month) and there is a lot of changes and new things coming to my blog. So keep your eyes peeled! 💄

Every year my sister gets me the yearly 144 shade, Makeup Revolution palette and this year was no different. I look forward to seeing the difference in each palettes and what adventurous shades I will have to work with on some new makeup looks for the year.

Lets start this review off with some similarities and differences between the 2017 and the 2018 palettes.

  1. There are a lot of similar brown/nude shades in both palettes which could have been filled with some more adventurous colours. Although this would be good for people that want to maybe have colours from both palettes but for me these palettes I don’t travel with so it would be nice to have a few more bright shades.
  2.  A couple of the colours seem to be in the same place like they’ve just copied the design from the year before.

  1. There are plenty more matte shades in the 2018 palette which is great for doing more matte smokey eyes etc.
  2. There are a couple of different bright shades in their which I can create some different looks with.
  3.  The pigment seems to be a lot better with most of the shades the 2018 palette
  4. The casing feels a lot stronger this year which is great because sometimes the 2017 one makes noises like its going to crack if you put too much weight on it.

The picture above shows you some of the swatches from both the 2017 palette and the 2018 one. The swatches on the left are from the 2018 palette and the swatches on the right are their identical shades from the 2017 palette. You can see how much more pigmented the 2018 swatches which is just amazing if you love a popping eyeshadow look.

I got the palette for Christmas so I used it to get ready for the family meal in the afternoon. I was very unwell so I didn’t really do much with my eyes but I used a lovely red on my lids and outer corner to match with the top I was wearing. It wasn’t much but it completed the look and made me feel a lot better about myself that day.

Jack Frost Inspired Eyeshadow Look ❄️

The big day is coming soon, what better way to celebrate the holidays than doing Christmas inspired makeup looks. I’m really excited about this makeup look as it is inspired by the personification of the cold, icy weather – Jack Frost. I took to Google to get some ideas for this look and think of some ideas to go with it. I decided to take the Jack Frost character representation from the 2012 movie “Rise of the Guardians”.

This character represented the weather perfectly with the white’s and the blue. Elsa from hit movie Frozen would be the perfect representation too. This helped me with the idea of putting quite shiny blues and whites and lots of highlighter on the lids, inner corners, nose and lips. The pink part of the eyeshadow look came from the effect the recent snowy weather had on me. My cheeks always go a rosy colour in the frosty weather so I thought adding it in would be the perfect representation of what it is and what it can do to you.

❄️What I Used❄️

The first palette was from NYX. It is the Ultimate Multi-Finish Palette (Sugar High). This palette has a lot of natural and rosy colours, perfect for a subtle smokey eye.

I began by priming my lids with concealer as I find this most efficient for my eyes. The concealer I used was Collection Lasting Perfection in the lightest shade.

To re create the frost and the ice, I picked up the NYX In Your Element: Wind palette. This palette has some beautiful shimmery blues and whites in. I don’t think I could have picked a better palette.

Get Ready With Me: Concert ⭐

Hello again! I’m so so sorry for a late post. The past few days have consisted in so much bliss and happiness for me that I didn’t get chance to write this post. But have no fear, the post is here (am I good poet yet? No? Okay i’ll keep trying.)

Today’s post is going to be my complete look for the Boyce Avenue concert I attended at the beginning of November. It will include my entire makeup look, how I did my hair and what I was wearing. You all seem to love my looks so I thought I would continue on that path and show you how much I have come out of my comfort zone.

I went back into my eye shadow draws to pick out an old palette that I hadn’t used in a while/ever. I came across a NYX palette, that believe it or not, still had the plastic on it. This was the Cool Neutrals palette from the NYX ULTIMATE collection. I know the palette doesn’t sound like the kind of palette that would be out of my comfort zone but it has some very ‘out there’ shades. I made it my goal to use some of those shades.

To start off this look I took a flat brush and packed on this light shade to get rid of any discolouration as I want this look to really pop.
Next, using a fluffy brush I took this shade and buffed it into my outer crease as a transition shade.
Then its the fun part! I took a smaller flat brush and packed on a ton of this glitter shade to my lid. The more the merrier, am I right?
Finally, I took the same fluffy brush from before to buff in this gorgeous purple shade into the outer crease to give this look a real pop. Also this purple shade is very out of my comfort zone, so yay me!

For my hair I freshly washed it that morning using these two products above. I suffer with quite a flaky and itchy scalp and this shampoo is the only thing that keeps it from coming back. Usually I keep the conditioner on my hair for about 10 minutes while I am in the shower, this helps the conditioner soak into every strand of my very thick hair to keep it silky and shiny.

When it came around to getting ready, I wanted to curl my hair. I have a pretty standard routine to curling my hair, however it is so thick that it takes so long to get it all curled. My routine starts by spraying the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray through my hair. To make sure the product is distributed evenly, I spray some onto a tangle teaser brush to get the under side of my hair.

My favourite curling utensil to use is the Lee Stafford Coco Loco Long Tong. This tong has a clip on it, however I prefer using it as a wand instead. I find with my hair I get the best curls if I use curling wands. It takes me quite a while as I have to take quite small sections and wrap it around a few times to get gorgeous beach style curls.

I finish it off with a little bit of hair spray by Elnett as their hairspray doesn’t make your hair go stiff and crispy.

Mystery Blogger Award!

I have seen so many of these blog awards floating around for ages and I always wondered if my blog would ever be good enough to get a nomination. I was very kindly nominated for the first time by the lovely KatilynInTheMiddle. I’d like to thank you so much for this as it has made my day! It’s so lovely that the blogosphere is able to award each other for our blogs as a lot of time and effort goes into making posts!

I believe this award was created by Okoto Enigma🌼 What a fantastic concept! I admire your creativity.

My Nominations

I would like to start off by telling you the 10 amazing bloggers I have nominated for this award:

Joy The Witch

So Sophisticatedbeauty

Sam Stanbridge

jodi – a brash attitude

The Rainy Wonderland

The Rules

Below I have given you the rules of this award, so if I have nominated you, you know what to do! ❤️

  • Put the award logo on your post.
  • Make sure you thank the person who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  • Mention the creator of the award and provide a link to them as well
  • Tell your followers 3 things they don’t know about you
  • Nominate 10-20 people
  • Notify them by commenting on their blog
  • Ask whoever you may nominate any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird/funny question
  • Share a link to your best posts

My 5 questions for you guys are:

  1. If you had to only use 3 makeup products for the rest of your life, what would they be?
  2. What country do you want to visit and why?
  3. What made you start blogging?
  4. Which actor/actress would you choose to play you in a movie about yourself?
  5. (I have to steal this one) Most embarrassing moment?

3 Things About Me (They Might Shock You!)

  1. You all know from my blog that I adore makeup and I am such a girly girl, but the other part of me is actually really into watching motor sport. I like watching speedway and going to events and enjoying the raw-ness of it.
  2. I don’t like pizza – please don’t hate me 😥
  3. I am an old fashioned kind of girl: I adore music from the 80’s rather than modern, I adore the old fashioned fairytale love etc. I think I was born in the wrong era

Question time!

Katilyn kindly asked me some questions a long side this award so I am going to answer them as best I can.

1. Do you feel the need to follow blog trends? If so, how do you keep up with them?

Honestly, I have never kept up to date with trends. I write and post about what I want which works for me. Personally I am not a fan of seeing a hundred posts on the same topic. I like a variety but that is just personal preferance.

2. How do you stay motivated to write your posts?

I have this cute blog book which I write ideas and things in for different posts. If you write about doing a hundred posts you will never run out, especially in the beauty industry as there is so much you can talk about and do.

3. What do you feel is the hardest thing about blogging?

I think it is keeping to a schedule. When I first started I wanted to put up posts twice a week but with working full time and posts taking a long time to make I only post once a week and maybe twice if I can get a good post done.

4. What are your top 3 favorite beauty products?

Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind

Mascara: Benefit Bad Gal Lash

Brows: Freedom Dip Brow Pomade

5. What is your favorite book turned movie?

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.

Bonus Silly Question:

6. If you would like to share, what is the funniest thing to happen to you in public?

This is a very true story! I was actually on Goodge Street in London heading up to Tottenham Court road to do some shopping. I was wearing platform boots and there was a raised slab on the pathway. So, like an idiot, I stacked it!!! I didn’t fall completely over, I managed to catch my balance but all I heard was this voice say “are you alright love?”. I looked up and it was none other than comedian Russell Brand. I was so embarrassed, I went as red as a post box!

My Best Posts

My best posts which you guys seem to love are the makeup looks. Especially from the series I did called “Out of My Comfort Zone”. If you want to check them out then feel free, all the support is much appreciated. ❤️
